Struck at the Dijon Mint (mint mark D.) during the Convention period of the French Republic. A first glance this coin appears to have been produced at Lyon (mint mark D), but was minted at a provisional mint at Dijon. The Dijon mint borrowed dies from Lyon & installed a dot adjacent to the D mint mark to differentiate the provisional mint. Dual dated 1793 & L'AN II (2). 12. 04g, planchet defects, as struck.
